Where were you, method,
when I first touched the keys?
Instead of the A,
a most likely place to start,
we started with J,
then K, L, and :,

We never did words
until all letters were learned.
We practiced, without looking.
We drilled and timed
while taking a peek
hoping not to get caught.

Now you come long
22 years later.
I typed five letters a day
and even some words,
bad and bed, and dab and cab
such baby words after all these years.

But OH, the difference it makes.
While I still look, with fewer mistakes,
What pleasure it is to speed on the keys.
